Tribological characterisation of magnesium matrix nanocomposites: A review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Magnesium matrix nanocomposites (Mg-MNCs) are high grade materials widely used in aerospace, electronics, biomedical and automotive sectors for strength to weight ratio, excellent sustainability superior mechanical tribological characteristics. Basic properties of Mg-MNCs rely on type amount reinforcement fabrication process. Current study reviews existing literatures explore contribution different parameters Mg-MNCs. Effects particle size reinforcements like SiC, WC, Al 2 O 3 , TiB CNT, graphene nano platelets (GNP), graphite behaviour discussed. Incorporation nanoparticles generally enhances properties. Role processes stir casting (SC), ultrasonic treatment (UST), disintegrated melt deposition (DMD), friction processing (FSP) wear is also reviewed. Contributions process (sliding speed, load sliding distance) wear, mechanism examined.

Polymeric Nanocomposites for Tribological Applications

Polymer nanocomposites operate in applications where fluid and grease lubricants fail, and have superior tribological performance to traditional polymer composites. Nanoparticle fillers have been a part of notable reductions in the wear rate of the polymer matrix at very low loadings. Despite instances of remarkable wear reductions at unprecedented loadings (3 000 times at 0.5% loading in one c...

Preparation and Characterisation of ZnO - SiO2 and Bi2O3 – CuO Nanocomposites

In the present work, ZnO - SiO2 and Bi2O3– CuO nanocomposites have been prepared by sol gel with alternate precursors existing in literature. They are characterised by XRD, SEM,UV, FTIR and photoluminescence  spectra .The XRD results indicate a crystallite size of  approximately 80 nm for both nanocomposites. SEM image shows a heterogeneous particle size for bot...

Biodegradable polymer matrix nanocomposites for tissue engineering: A review

Nanocomposites have emerged in the last two decades as an efficient strategy to upgrade the structural and functional properties of synthetic polymers. Aliphatic polyesters as polylactide (PLA), poly(glycolides) (PGA), poly(3-caprolactone) (PCL) have attracted wide attention for their biodegradability and biocompatibility in the human body. A logic consequence has been the introduction of organ...

Modified graphene/polyimide nanocomposites: reinforcing and tribological effects.

By taking advantage of design and construction of strong graphene-matrix interfaces, we have prepared modified graphene/polyimide (MG/PI) nanocomposites via a two-stage process consisting of (a) surface modification of graphene and (b) in situ polymerization. The 2 wt % MG/PI nanocomposites exhibited a 20-fold increase in wear resistance and a 12% reduction in friction coefficient, constituting...
